Man charged in large scale fraud

The Surrey RCMP Financial Crimes unit (FCU) conducted an investigation that has resulted in a man being charged with fraud allegedly involving millions of dollars.

On January 14, 2021, the Surrey FCU began an investigation into a fraud spanning from 2015 to 2021 after a victim came forward to police, alleging they had lost several million dollars in real-estate investment opportunities.

Police gathered information and evidence as part of a long-term investigation and determined that between October 9, 2015 and July 20 2018, the 34-year-old man allegedly committed large scale financial frauds.

On November 21, 2023, Prabhraj Rai was arrested and charged with Fraud Over $5,000.

Prabhraj Rai has been released by the courts on conditions while awaiting his next court appearance.

No further details will be provided as this matter is now before the courts.
