Threats at Kwantlen University deemed unfounded

 Surrey RCMP is advising the public that a lockdown that occurred at Kwantlen Polytechnic University Newton Campus this afternoon has been lifted.

On March 31, 2022, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report that staff at Kwantlen Polytechnic University received a threat via phone. Out of an abundance of caution, the school was placed into a lockdown and there was a significant police presence surrounding the campus.

Surrey RCMP was able to determine that there was not a legitimate threat. The lockdown has been lifted. Investigators will be continuing to investigate the origin of the phone call received.
