On May 27th at approximately 9:15 pm the Sunshine Coast RCMP were advised that vehicles driving southbound on Sunshine Coast Hwy in the area of Ruby Lake, had their drivers side windows shattered after being shot at with a pellet rifle.  In total, three vehicles were damaged and fortunately the drivers were able to stop safely and not drive off the highway.

Police were on scene quickly and located three suspect youths, 2 of them are 11 years old and the third youth was 12. No physical injuries to the vehicle occupants but understandably they have all suffered emotional distress due to the incident. Police have spoken with Crown Counsel and the families of the youths and the file will be processed through the restorative justice program due to the ages of the accused. The youths families were all notified and are cooperating with the police investigation.
