RCMP evacuate homes for safety concern

On December 10th 2023, Sunshine Coast RCMP arrested a male at a home in the 4400 block of Sunshine Coast Hwy as part of an ongoing investigation.  During the search of the home, police became concerned for their continued safety, evacuated the residence and, out of an abundance of caution, evacuated several homes in the immediate area. A specialized RCMP unit has been called in to ensure the safety of the public is maintained, while also making the residence safe for police to enter and complete their search.

One male is in police custody at this time. The RCMP will be continuing their investigation today and expect that all residents will be able to return to their homes by the end of day.

Sunshine Coast RCMP will not be commenting any further as this is an active investigation.
