Youth arrested after fire set on BC Ferries vessel

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP has arrested a 16-year old male youth after allegedly setting a fire on board of a BC Ferries vessel.

On October 10, just after 8:30 p.m., Sidney/North Saanich RCMP were notified by BC Ferries that someone had started a fire inside a BC Ferries vessel’s washroom which was now docked at the Swartz Bay Terminal.

Police boarded the vessel, arrested and escorted the youth off the vessel without further incident.
The extent of the damage remains under investigation states Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the RCMP in British Columbia. The youth was later released and is set to appear in court at a later date.
