
Sidney North Saanich RCMP arrest suspect in arson investigation

During the early morning hours of December 27, 2022, Sidney North Saanich RCMP officers responded to a report of a break and enter to an unfinished construction project in the 9700 block of Third Street in Sidney BC. Upon arrival, Police officers discovered that the building was on fire. Sidney Fire Rescue was called to the scene and the fire was quickly extinguished.
A man in his thirties from Victoria was located by police on scene and he was arrested for arson. Police believe that this fire was intentionally started and the man is being held at this time pending a court appearance.
Thanks to the swift response of both Police and Firefighters, this event was quickly resolved. We are thankful that the building was not occupied at the time and that our first responders were able to manage this event safely and professionally,
said Corporal Andres Sanchez.
As this investigation is active and ongoing, no further details will be released at this time. Police believe that this is an isolated incident and there are no outstanding suspects or further danger posed to the public.
