
RCMP investigate structure fire in North Saanich

In the early hours of April 9, 2022 Emergency Responders which included Firefighters, RCMP officers and BC Ambulance attendants responded to a structure fire in the 9000-Block of Cresswell Rd. in North Saanich. Firefighters were able to quell the fire but sadly it is believed that a resident of the address perished in the blaze.All emergency services acted swiftly and professionally in this situation. I take comfort that we have well trained officers who are working diligently to ascertain the cause of this terrible event,
said Corporal Andres Sanchez, Operation Support NCO at the Sidney North Saanich RCMP.
Currently RCMP officers are investigating the cause of the fire and have called members of the Forensic Identification team and trained fire investigators to assist. The fire has not been deemed as being suspicious at this point but investigators are exploring the possible causes. BC Coroners Services has also been contacted and is investigating.
