Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP are investigating a Boxing Day collision which tragically resulted in a pedestrian fatality.

On December 26, at around 8:20 PM, Ridge Meadows RCMP received a call from BC Emergency Health services as they were en-route to a scene where an unknown man was struck by a vehicle traveling West bound in the 203rd and Lougheed Highway area. The victim, a thirty five year old man, was hit by a White Honda SUV and sadly was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) attended the scene. Early investigation results and witness statements suggest the man was not utilizing a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation and driver impairment by drugs or alcohol is not a factor.

Ridge Meadows RCMP offers their condolences to the man’s family and friends. The investigation is continuing.
