The Buy and Safe Sell Zone initiative came to fruition from a Ridge Meadows RCMP municipal employee: Debra Nielsen. Nielsen has been with the Ridge Meadows RCMP for the past 15 years and pitched the idea to create a ‘safe zone’ for online shoppers. She has over 20 years of personal experience in using online buying and selling platforms and understands the importance of picking the right location to conduct business.

The new Buy and Sell Safe Zones are in place to make sure residents feel comfortable when making purchases from others online, states Officer-in-Charge Wendy Mehat. Personal safety is the most paramount thing to consider when conducting transactions with people you don’t know. The safe zones are well lit and monitored by surveillance cameras to make sure our community feels protected when using them.
