Robbery series leads to one man in custody

Maple Ridge B.C. – Suspect linked to three alleged robberies in the Cities of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge in less than a week.

On June 15, 2022, at approximately 9:47 pm, Ridge Meadows RCMP received a report of a robbery that had allegedly just occurred in the 12500 block of Harris Road. No weapon was produced in this incident. Ridge Meadows RCMP began actively investing attempting to identify a suspect.

The Street Enforcement Team (SEU) took continuity of the investigations.

The second robbery in the series occurred on June 17, 2022 at approximately 5:16pm in the 22400 block of Dewdney Trunk Road with similarities to the first incident, no weapons were produced.

The final robbery occurred on June 18, 2022 at approximately 7:55 am, in the 20200 block of Lougheed Highway, with once again similarities to the first two incidents.

After combing through video surveillance, Mr. Carlos Almeida, a 36-year-old man from Maple Ridge was identified and promptly arrested by frontline officers without incident.

 "Video surveillance was integral in identifying an alleged suspect in these incidents and connecting the investigations." Stated Sgt Chris Kelly unit Commander for SEU.

Mr. Almeida is remanded until his court appearance on June 22, 2022 in Provincial Court in Port Coquitlam. No further information is available at this time as this is before the courts.
