Maple Ridge B.C. – The investigation into a single vehicle crash continues with police seeking further witnesses.
On May 7, 2022 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline officers responded to a serious motor vehicle collision in the 27500 block of 112 Avenue. A black SUV collided with a parked unoccupied vehicle, the force of the collision pushed the parked car into the support beams of a residence resulting in the SUV rolling after impact.
Two off duty fire fighters attempted life saving measures until BC Ambulance Services and Maple Ridge Fire Department attended to take over. However, the 29-year-old man died on scene. Integrated Police Dog Services (IPDS) attended to thoroughly search the area to confirm the man was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
Ridge Meadows Investigational Support Team (IST) and Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) attended the scene and contacted the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Services (ICARS) to assist with the investigation.
The investigation is still in the early stages however, drugs, alcohol and speed are all being considered as possible causes for the collision.
