On December 6, 2023 Richmond RCMP Property Crime Unit (PCU) were conducting proactive patrols in a local area mall when they allegedly witnessed two suspects shoplifting from a store.

As the two exited the store, Richmond RCMP PCU officers arrested them and recovered approximately $ 16,000.00 in merchandize.

This investigation clearly demonstrates the level of financial impact shoplifting can have on a business, says Inspector Michael Cohee, Officer-in-Charge of Richmond RCMP Investigative Services and Community Engagement, We want our local businesses to know we are aware of the issue and are working diligently, using a multi-tiered response to address shoplifting in Richmond.

Richmond RCMP will be conducting a variety of extra enforcement operations throughout the holiday season, including Bike Patrols in various business locations throughout Richmond.

Both suspects were released on Police Undertakings with conditions to not attend a local area mall in the 6500 block of No 3 Rd.

Charges are pending.
