Suspect arrested for Obstruction and again for Breach

On November 25th, 2022 at approximately 1pm, a third-party caller from the area near Townshipline Road in Mission reported observing a suspicious male described as "looking like a zombie", not known to the area loitering near a driveway. Officers located the adult male as he had been described and engaged him in conversation.
The 26-year-old man provided a name and date of birth and when queries were conducted on PRIME and CPIC and in conjunction with further interactions, it was determined he was providing a false name and was placed under arrest without issue for Obstructing a Peace Officer. Once in the rear of the Police vehicle it was quickly determined the male's actual name which indicated several unendorsed arrest warrants from Burnaby, Nanaimo and the Intergrated Road Safety Unit (IRSU). The man was transported to back to cells to appear before a Judge the following morning for his warrants.
At approximately the same time as this was unfolding near Townshipline Road area, a Ford F350 pickup truck that had been stolen from Victoria, was found unoccupied in a ditch near Clay Street and Keystone Avenue. Members attended that scene and had the vehicle towed and the RCMP Forensic Ident Unit were tasked with processing the vehicle for possible latent fingerprints and any other associated evidence. At the time of the man's arrest a short distance away, there was not enough evidence to link him to the vehicle, and that investigation remains on-going.
On November 26th, 2022, at approximately 10:00 am, Members of our plainclothes Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) were out and observed the same male that had been arrested above, having been released that morning by way of a Judicial Release, walk in the Petro Canada on Horne Street. Surveillance was established and a half an hour later, the male emerged from the washroom of the store and was acting in an erratic manner, consistent with illicit drug use. After being asked to leave the Petro Canada multiple times by an employee, Members of the CRU team attended and spoke to the male who was clearly showing signs of illicit drug use in his motor control and speech.
The male was then re-arrested for breaching the Judicial Release he was just released on a couple hours earlier and transported back to Mission cells to go before a Judge. The male participated in a Bail hearing and was released with another Judicial Release Order and released from custody at 5pm that same day. The Mission RCMP are asking for the public's help if you may have information on the truck that made its way into the ditch at Clay Street and Keystone Avenue sometime in the morning hours of November 25th, 2022- 13797 refers.
