Langley RCMP is continuing to investigate a motor vehicle collision that occurred on August 9, 2024 in the 5000 block of 208 Street in Langley.
On August 9, 2024 at approximately 11:20 am, a Langley RCMP officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the 5000 block of 208th Street when the police officer was struck by a vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the scene heading northbound on 208th Street.
Investigation led Police to a nearby address where a 22-year-old Langley man was taken into Police custody without incident and the suspect vehicle, a blue Infiniti G35 was recovered.
"The Langley RCMP would like to express a huge thanks to the local public and our safety partners that involved themselves in the incident with our officer this morning. Numerous by-standers stopped to provide both medical assistance or waited to provide witness accounts. The amazing response from on duty and off-duty British Columbia Ambulance Service paramedics and members of the Langley City Fire department was incredible. Even members of the community who had been stopped in the traffic enforcement campaign graciously did all they could to assist! Given the egregiousness of his injuries, our officer’s fate likely could have been far worse if it had not been for the kindness of those who helped. It proved to us once again how lucky we are to live and work in this community," says Officer in Charge of Langley RCMP, Supt. Adrian Marsden.
The area around 50th Avenue and 208th Street has been re-opened for regular traffic.
Anyone with more information, including dash cam footage from area at 11:20 am on August 9, 2024 is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file# 24-25379.
