File # 2021-CounterAttack

Counterattack Checkstops will be manned at various locations throughout the Langleys continuing through the Christmas Season.

Residents of the Langleys have time and again shown their intolerance for impaired driving by reporting to police observations of motorists they believe to be impaired. If you are aware of an individual who has used drugs and is driving, please call Langley RCMP to report this dangerous driving practice.

One motorist traveling in Langley will likely enjoy their Christmas just a little bit less after receiving an Immediate Roadside Prohibition for an alcohol related driving offense over this past weekend.

CounterAttack Check

Rather than spending their hard earned money on Christmas presents, this driver will be responsible for fines and fees to the tune of several thousand dollars. In addition, their vehicle has been impounded for 30 days so potentially; others may be impacted by the loss of transportation.

New drivers are reminded they can have NO ALCOHOL in their system when operating a motor vehicle. If these new drivers are found to have been drinking alcohol and operating a vehicle, they are subject to an immediate prohibition and possibly a later prohibition by the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles for violating the conditions of their license.

On average, 65 people die every year in crashes involving impaired driving.

Police across the province will be looking for impaired drivers at CounterAttack roadchecks throughout December.
Please do everything you can to stop impaired driving. If you will be attending a holiday festivity and will consume alcohol, make a plan – arrange for a designated driver, hire a taxi, use public transportation, or call a sober friend.
