Police investigating suspicious occurrence

Two recent reports of a man chasing children in the park has Kamloops police turning to the public for more information.

On May 13, 2024, around 5:50 p.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment was contacted after a man allegedly came out of the bushes and taunted a group of children, then chased them away on their bikes in Albert Mcgowan Park on Summit Drive. A similar report was received on April 16, 2024, around 6:20 p.m. In both occurrences, the man appeared to be with a female who was nearby.

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is looking to speak with the man, the woman he was with, or someone who may know him, to discuss the report and help further the investigation, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.

The man was described as Caucasian, 40-50 years old, heavyset, with a pronounced lower lip, balding, and wearing a grey or black shirt and grey shorts. The female was described as Caucasian with salt and pepper hair styled in a bun, wearing a coral shirt.
