File # 2023-6263
Proactive patrols led to Kamloops RCMP frontline officers arresting a man who was allegedly attempting to break into a downtown business this weekend.
On Saturday March 2, 2024, just before 3 a.m., a police officer was patrolling the downtown core when he was flagged down by a person alerting him to a break and enter attempt in progress on the 100-block of Victoria Street. The officer located a suspect in the underground parkade at Lansdowne Street and arrested him for break and enter and mischief.
The proactive patrols were in direct response to the recent increased break and enter reports received in the area, and not only led to an arrest, but also to the prevention of a business break-in,
said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.
The suspect was later released by police with conditions and a court date. Charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the assessment and approval process.
Anyone who witnessed or has video that may be related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-6263.
