Robbery, assault, included in charges for Kamloops men

Two suspects are facing multiple charges related to a report involving weapons received by police Wednesday afternoon.

On Feb. 28, 2024, around 12:30 p.m., multiple Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to an address on the 1700-block of Parkcrest Avenue, where a person was allegedly assaulted and threatened with what appeared to be a firearm.

Multiple police units responded and following a strategic approach which lasted for almost two hours, located and arrested two suspects, said Superintendent Jeff Pelley of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment. On Feb. 29, both men appeared for a bail hearing and were remanded into custody.

Austin Alexander Neil Eyres, 27, of Kamloops is charged with one count each of assault with a weapon, robbery with a firearm, possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm, failure to comply with a release order; pointing a firearm, and prohibited driving.

Kenneth Robert Hockley, 26, of Kamloops is charged with one count each of assault with a weapon, robbery with a firearm, possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000, and possession of ammunition while prohibited.

Both men were remanded in custody until their next court appearance, scheduled for March 13, 2024.
