File # 2023-17869

A woman in her 30s has sadly succumbed to injuries received from a gunshot wound on Sunday.

On May 21, 2023, just after 6 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers and paramedics were called to the 800-block of Valhalla Drive for a report of a woman who had been shot. She was taken to the hospital and had remained on life-support until earlier today, when she was taken off and succumbed to her injuries.

This is a sad outcome to an act of violence now deemed a homicide, said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Officer in Charge. Resources from our Serious Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Services Unit, General Investigation Support Team, Crime Reduction Unit, and frontline officers continue to progress the investigation.

To protect the integrity of the investigation, no further information will be released at this time.

Police have been in contact with the victim’s family and are requesting their privacy be respected.

Anyone who witnessed, has information or video, and has not contacted police, is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-17869.
