The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 470 calls for service from Friday April 28, to 9 a.m. on Monday May 1, 2023. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Apprehension in parkade

2023-14643

A person was safely taken to hospital Saturday, following a police presence on Lansdowne Street.

On April 29, 2023, around 2:50 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the 300-block of Lansdowne Street for a report of a person experiencing a mental health crisis in a parkade. Responding officers spoke with the person for nearly one hour, during which time they were able to de-escalate the situation.

The person was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and immediately taken to hospital for medical assessment and care.

Disturbance report

Two women were arrested Saturday morning when police were called to a fight on the North Shore.

Around 9:30 a.m., April 29, 2023, Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officers were called to the area of Simcoe Avenue and Fortune Drive, where they located two intoxicated women involved in the complaint. One was compliant and transported to her residence; the other was resistant and attempted to assault an officer – she was taken to cells to sober up safely and prevent repetition.

The woman was released without process when sober.

Dumpster fire

Police are investigating two small fires that occurred on the North Shore Saturday morning.

On April 29, 2023, around 7:30 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to assist Kamloops Fire Rescue for a dumpster fire at Selkirk Avenue and 13th Street, and a small fire in the alley behind the 1100-block of Selkirk Avenue. The fires were quickly extinguished.

Commercial break-in

Cash and packages were stolen from a business on Summit Drive early Saturday morning.

On April 29, 2023, around 11 a.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received a report of a break and enter that occurred around 4 a.m. on the 1200-block of Summit Drive. Two suspects were described as wearing construction pants, boots, and bandanas around their faces.
