The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 405 calls for service from Friday March 31 to 9 a.m. on Monday April 3, 2023. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Break and enter

2023-10944

Police are looking for a stolen truck after a residence was broken into this weekend.

On Saturday April 1, around 9 a.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received a report of a break and enter into a residence on the 700-block of Hemlock Street sometime overnight, during which the thief made off with jewelry, electronics, and a vehicle, among other items.

Officers are looking for information related to the investigation. The vehicle is an older model white Dodge Dakota pickup with BC license plate 7799LN. Those who witnessed or captured video footage that may be related to the incident, or to the stolen truck, are asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-10944.

Break and enter in progress

A man is charged with three offences after police were called to a report of a break-in this weekend.

On April 1, 2023, around 12:50 p.m., Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officers attended a residential address on the 100-block of Angus Street, where a person had allegedly broken into a garage. Police quickly located and arrested a suspect.

A Kamloops man in his 30s was held in custody for a bail hearing. He is charged with two counts of failure to comply with release conditions, and break and enter. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 6, 2023.

Weapons report

2023-10996

A vehicle reported to have a passenger with a suspected firearm inside, fled from police and was later located abandoned this weekend.

On April 1, around 7 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to Sudbury Avenue, where a person was observed with what appeared to be a handgun in their lap, inside a white Hyundai. Police located a vehicle matching the description and attempted a traffic stop, but it fled westbound on Columbia Street. A couple of hours later, it was located unoccupied behind the Sahali mall.

The vehicle was seized by police as part of the investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference 2023-10996.

Robbery: man arrested

2023-11105

A man is charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, and carrying a concealed weapon following a Sunday evening report.

On April 2, 2023, around 7:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended a business on the 1000-block of Hillside Drive where staff at the location were allegedly dealing with a person with a weapon. Officers attended and located a suspect. A number of items, including weapons, were seized as part of the investigation.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing, during which he received a release order. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 11, 2023.
