Robbery suspect arrested on Lansdowne

A man was taken into police custody following the report of an attempted robbery and a foot pursuit downtown Tuesday afternoon.

On April 11, 2023, around 1:50 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were alerted to an alleged robbery attempt at a commercial location on the 400-block of Seymour Street, from which the suspect fled on foot. A description of the man was provided and multiple police officers responded.

A plainclothes police officer located a suspect running and engaged in a foot pursuit, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. The foot pursuit ended in the 400-block of Lansdowne Street when the suspect was safety taken into custody by members of the General Investigations Support Team.

The man was later released with conditions and a court date. Charge recommendations are anticipated following the investigation’s conclusion.
