File # 2023-6988

A report of a person with a possible weapon near the Lansdowne Mall has been investigated and police have since cleared the area.

On March 1, 2023, around 12:53 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 400-block of Lansdowne Street where a man with a cart was allegedly observed with what appeared to be a firearm.

Officers attended and extensively patrolled the area as part of the investigation. No one was located with a firearm or matching the suspect description, and no other similar reports were received.

We have received a number of inquiries about a possible lockdown in the area and want to advise the public that the weapon’s report appears unsubstantiated at this time, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

Anyone with any further information is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-6988.
