File # 2023-6670

Kamloops police are investigating impaired driving as a factor in a Sunday head-on collision that sent one person to hospital with significant injuries.

On Feb. 26, 2023, around 1:10 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a crash on Westsyde Road just north of Parkview Drive involving a Honda Civic and Ford Ranger pickup truck. Several people in the truck received minor injuries. The driver of the Honda was arrested for impaired driving and his passenger was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries, believed to be non-life threatening.

Traffic in the area was impacted for several hours as a result of the collision, for which charge recommendations are anticipated as part of this ongoing Criminal Code impaired driving investigation, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

The suspect was released with a court date and driving prohibition.

Anyone who witnessed, has information or has dash cam footage related to this incident is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment.
