 The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 342 calls for service from Friday Jan. 27, to 9 a.m. on Jan. 30, 2023. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Impaired driving collision

A man lost his licence for 90 days after crashing into a telephone pole near the Kamloops RCMP Detachment on Battle Street early Saturday morning.

On Jan. 28, 2023, around 6:15 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers heard a loud bang near 6th Avenue and Seymour Street, followed by a truck with frontend damage driving quickly past the detachment. Police stopped the vehicle nearby and as part of the investigation, administered a roadside breath test which resulted in a fail reading, indicating a blood-alcohol content exceeding .08.

The man received a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day vehicle impound, along with six violation tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations, and Liquor Control and Licensing Act. The telephone pole was undamaged.

Assault investigation, man arrested

A disturbance call resulted in a man getting arrested and lodged in cells on Saturday night.

On Jan. 28, 2023, around 11:05 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 700-block of Strauss Road where a person was allegedly banging on a door and making threats. As part of the investigation, police arrested a man, lodged him in cells to sober up safely, then released him with a court date and conditions related to assault and threat offences. Charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the assessment process.

Impaired driving: vehicle missing a front tire impounded

A report of a black sedan striking vehicles, then fleeing the scene absent a front tire, led to a man losing his license for 90 days.

On Sunday Jan. 29, 2023 around 1:30 a.m., Kamloops police were called to the Battle Street West and 1st Avenue, where three parked vehicles had been struck. Officers located a suspect nearby and as part of the investigation, administered breath tests, which both registered ‘Fail’ readings, indicating a blood alcohol content exceeding .08. The man was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day vehicle impound under the Motor Vehicle Act as well as a violation ticket.

Stolen vehicle recovered

A man was arrested after two people were located in a stolen blue Ford truck this weekend.

On Jan. 29, 2023, just after 2 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers headed up the Jamieson Creek Forest Service Road, where a Conservation Officer had located a truck reported as stolen on Jan. 26, from a business on Halston Avenue. One person was arrested in relation to possession of stolen property and released with a court date.

Indecent act

A man was taken into police custody, then to the hospital, after he ran naked past the North Shore police detachment Sunday afternoon.

On Jan. 29, 2023, around 3:15 p.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received reports of a disturbance involving a naked man running down the road near Regina Avenue. Frontline officers located the man as he ran past the North Shore Community Police Detachment.

He was arrested and placed inside a warm police vehicle, transported to cells, assessed by paramedics, and taken to the hospital for assessment.
