File # 2022-43389

A portion of 13th Street was closed this afternoon as part of a police investigation that included assistance from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT).

On Dec. 8, 2022, just before 2 p.m., Kamloops RCMP officers attended the area to execute a search warrant at a residence on the 1100-block of 13th Street, as part of an investigation into forcible confinement, threats, and firearms offences.

Due to the nature of the investigation and the risk assessment conducted, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment engaged the assistance of ERT for entry into the associated residence, said Superintendent Jeff Pelley. Neighbours inside the containment area were requested to stay inside their homes as a safety precaution, until the suspects involved were taken into custody and the area was confirmed as safe.

At this time, several people have been arrested as a result of Thursday’s presence. Police visibility remains on scene as part of the ongoing investigation. More information will be provided when it becomes available.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-43389.
