File # Weekend report Dec. 2-5

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 315 calls for service from Friday Dec. 2, to 9 a.m. on Dec. 5, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Man arrested on warrant, stolen property recovered

Friday afternoon patrols led police to a vehicle reported stolen out of Jasper, and to a man wanted on an arrest warrant.

On Dec. 2, 2022, just before 2 p.m., an officer on the 1600-block of Centennial Drive observed a white Infiniti with an Alberta license plate that indicated it was stolen. The officer stopped the vehicle and arrested its driver for possession of stolen property.

Police checks also indicated the man was wanted on an arrest warrant and he was held in custody to appear in court. The investigation into the stolen property is separate and ongoing.

Stolen vehicle, erratic driver report

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is looking for a suspect, following a report of a stolen vehicle, linked to an erratic driver and indecent act complaint.

On Saturday Dec. 3, 2022, around 4:25 p.m., police received a report of a black truck stolen sometime after 9 p.m. Friday, from the back alley of the 700-block of Battle Street. Shortly after receiving the report, police were called to a suspicious vehicle refuelling on the 200-block of Tranquille Road, in which the driver appeared intoxicated and allegedly exposed himself; the truck matched the description and license plate of the one reported stolen. Around 5:45 p.m., the same vehicle allegedly failed to stop for a roadblock on Ord Road, then was later observed driving through a red light on Notre Dame Drive.

The truck is described as a black 2018 GMC pickup, BC license plate PA511W, with a dent to the passenger side front and rear fender. Anyone who observed the truck or has information related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-43037.

Firearms stolen from vehicle

Police are investigating a theft from motor vehicle in which three firearms were stolen from a Jeep parked on 5th Avenue Saturday overnight.

Officers responded to the report on Sunday morning, Dec. 4, 2022, and were informed that the vehicle’s window had been left open slightly while it was parked. The owner was warned about ensuring their firearms were stored in a secure area in the future.

Shortly after, police were advised of a grey Chevrolet pickup truck stolen from the same parking lot. The truck is described as having two different side mirrors and damage to the rear right fender. Its licence plate is KR7969.

It’s unknown if the thefts are related. Anyone with information about these investigations is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000.
