Two youths were taken into police custody following a report of a robbery involving bear spray yesterday afternoon.

On Oct. 13, 2022, around 4:50 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers and the Police Dog Service Unit responded to Valleyview Drive where two people allegedly stole liquor, attempted to flee the store, then deployed bear spray when confronted by staff members.

Police were provided with a description of the suspects and quickly located one nearby, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. Shortly after, police found and arrested the second suspect in a restaurant along the highway frontage road.

Both were lodged in cells and released to a guardian with a court date and conditions.

Anyone who witnessed, has security footage, or information related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-36736.
