A Kamloops man is in custody facing charges, following his quick capture and arrest by Mounties early yesterday morning.

On Wednesday Aug. 31, 2022, around 6:30 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 1200-block of Summit Drive for a break and enter in progress. According to the report, a motion alarm was activated on the building’s roof, prior to security cameras capturing footage of two men inside the store who appeared to be removing merchandise and cash.

Frontline officers quickly arrived on scene and located a suspect on the east side of the building, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. He was arrested and taken into custody. The building was cleared with the assistance of the Police Dog Service Unit, but no other suspects were located. The investigation is ongoing.

Justin James Brown Henderson, 28, of Kamloops is charged with one count each of break and enter, theft, and mischief. He was remanded in custody with his next court appearance scheduled for today.

Anyone who witnessed or has video footage related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-30748.
