If you have ever thought about becoming a police officer, even for a second, now’s your chance to learn more about why it’s a career like no other.

Tomorrow, Sept. 1, 2022, at 4 p.m., Royal Canadian Mounted Police recruiters are hosting a career information session at the BC RCMP Kamloops Traffic Services building, 1280 Trans-Canada Highway West, in Aberdeen. The event will provide information on the opportunities provided by the RCMP, its recruiting process, requirements, and application process.

Supt. Syd Lecky presents Cst. Crystal Evelyn to the rank of corporal during a ceremony earlier this summer. On the left, a man in red serge salutes a female member is red serge. Canadian and BC flags are in the background.

Whether you’re considering a career change, or just getting ready to enter the work force -- if you’ve ever thought about becoming a police officer, but just aren’t sure, this is the presentation for you, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

About nine years ago, I was in a similar situation as many of you may be today – already established with a family and career, but unable to shake that spark of interest and curiosity that kept burning in the back of my head, added Cpl. Evelyn. Finally, after years of wondering what if, I attended a recruitment event at Durham College in Ontario and got the information I needed to make a decision about my future.

At 33 years old, Cpl. Evelyn graduated Depot and became a police officer in 2014. Since then, she has been able to experience several of the 150 different jobs the RCMP has to offer.

You’ve got nothing to lose, said Cpl. Evelyn. I know it’s short notice, but if you can make it, there’s no better time than the present to learn more about what could end up being the best decision of your life.
