File # 2022-28731

Two women were arrested following an armed robbery at a restaurant yesterday evening.

On Aug. 16, 2022, around 5:35 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 700-block of Fortune Avenue after a woman allegedly entered a fast-food establishment, produced a weapon and a note, and made off with cash and an employee’s cellphone.

The suspect, and another woman who was waiting outside, fled on mountain bikes. The cellphone was later retrieved by a civilian.

Thanks to the assistance of a witness who saw the women fleeing and captured them on video, police were able to locate and arrest one of the suspects shortly after, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. Images of the second woman were distributed to officers, who later recognized and arrested her while responding to another call for service.

Both women were released with conditions and a court date, as part of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone who witnessed, captured on video, or has information related to this incident, is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-28731.
