The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 410 calls for service from midnight Friday July 15, to 9 a.m. on Monday July 18, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Assault on the North Shore

An early morning weapons report led to police finding two victims, but no suspects.

On Saturday July 16, 2022 around 4:50 a.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment was called to the 400-block of Tranquille Road by ambulance, for a report of an assault. Police arrived to find two people who alleged they had been bear sprayed by three to four Caucasian men who pulled up in a whitish Honda truck and demanded one of them give them their bike. One of the victims also reported being punched.

Patrols were made in the area, but no one was located. Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this incident is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-24417.

Man arrested for breaching

A police officer happened to be in the right place at the right time to arrest a man in a retail store on Saturday.

On July 16, 2002 around 10:45 p.m., a Kamloops RCMP officer was attending a commercial location the 1000-block of Hillside Drive as part of another ongoing investigation, when he observed a man he recognized as having a probation order preventing him from entering the store.

The man was arrested. During a search, the officer located concealed items belonging to the store and returned them.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing, during which he was released with a new court date.

Impaired driver

A report of an impaired driver led to a Kamloops man being arrested early Sunday morning.

On July 16, 2022, around 11:30 p.m., police received a report involving a brown truck suspected to be operated by an impaired driver. Frontline officers patrolled the area and located the vehicle on Young Place, just after midnight. A roadside breath test was administered which registered a ‘fail’ reading, indicating a blood alcohol content exceeding .08.

The vehicle was impounded under the Motor Vehicle Act. The driver, who was found to be prohibited, was issued a court date.
