Police investigating weapons report on Yew Street

A large police presence is ongoing on the North Shore, following a report involving possible gunshots this afternoon.

On July 20, 2022 around 1:05 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the report on the 100-block of Yew Street. Officers identified a residence believed to be associated with the suspected gunshots and established a presence. The public was asked to please avoid the area, while nearby residents were requested to shelter in place.

The Southeast District Emergency Response Team, the Police Dog Service Unit, and other support teams are on scene to assist in this ongoing occurrence.

The public is asked to please continue to avoid the area and to stay inside their nearby residences until police presence is cleared.
