The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 373 calls for service from midnight Friday July 1, to 9 a.m. on Monday July 4, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Prohibited driver

2022-22535

A Kamloops man was arrested following a traffic stop that turned into a foot pursuit.

On Saturday July 2, around 9:35 p.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was patrolling the area of Schubert Drive and Richmond Avenue, when he noticed a truck travelling without its lights on. The officer attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, when the driver exited and fled and foot.

Police located the suspect nearby and arrested him for driving while prohibited and obstruction. He was released with a court date.

Break and enter arrest

A man was taken into custody after a residential break and enter was interrupted Saturday night.

On July 2, 2022, around 11:25 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 300-block of Collingwood Drive after residents there were alerted to an intruder by their security camera. The homeowner confronted the man and followed after him, but lost track of the suspect near Halston Avenue.

Police conducted patrols and located a man matching the suspect’s description soon after. He was arrested, held in custody until sober, and released with a court date and conditions as part of the charge recommendation and assessment process.

Impaired driver

A Kamloops man lost his license for 90 days after catching the attention of a municipal traffic member early Monday morning.

On July 3, 2022, around 2:40 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP traffic officer was conducting patrols on the 400-block of Victoria Street when he noticed a vehicle pull out of a parking spot and stall.

The officer approached the vehicle, which was occupied by three people. As part of his investigation, he conducted roadside breath tests on the driver; both registered Fail readings, indicating a blood alcohol content exceeding .08.

The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-vehicle impound under the Motor Vehicle Act.
