The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 392 calls for service from midnight Friday May 20, to 9 a.m. on Monday May 23, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Drugs, stolen items seized during investigation

More than 300 grams of suspected illegal drugs were seized following an investigation involving a suspicious vehicle.

On Saturday May 21, around 8 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were patrolling the 600-block of Schubert Drive when they observed two people sleeping in the front seat of a vehicle, as well as paraphernalia consistent with drug use and trafficking. Both people were arrested for drug possession. Approximately $3,000 in cash, 300 grams of suspected drugs, and other items, including identification and electronics suspected to be stolen, were seized as part of the investigation.

Large fight on North Shore

Police are investigating after a large party left at least one person assaulted and another possibly threatened with a weapon.

On Saturday May 21, 2022 around 10:20 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received multiple calls regarding a group of approximately 80-100 youth partying and fighting at Macarthur Island. Frontline officers attended, causing many to scatter. One youth was located with minor injuries and was reportedly struck by several people. Police are also investigating an uttering threats file related to the same event.

Drugs seized during traffic stop

A woman was busted with a large amount of drugs after failing to obey a stop sign at 7th and Alberni Street.

On May 22, 2022, around 1:40 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was patrolling the area when he initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the investigation, items consistent with drug trafficking were observed and the driver and passenger were arrested. Approximately 36 grams of suspected cocaine and cash were seized during a search.
