Police are looking for more information surrounding David Bosanac’s last movements, after a DNA analysis confirmed a recently discovered bone as belonging to him.

Mr. Bosanac, a 22-year-old Kamloops man, was reported missing on March 18, 2022, after he had not been heard from in several weeks. On March 26, 2022, a person was walking their dog near the Kamloops airport when they located what was later confirmed to be a human bone.

Since the initial discovery, police were able to obtain DNA to compare to the found bone, and can now confirm that it did indeed belong to Mr. Bosanac and that he is deceased, said Constable Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. Because the cause of Mr. Bosanac’s death is still unknown, police are not releasing what specific bone was discovered.

Since March 26, the area where the bone was found has been searched by the Police Dog Services Unit, Search and Rescue, and most recently, the RCMP Human Remains Detection (cadaver) dogs. Air Services and the police boat were also utilized to expand the search and cover the shoreline. No other items of significance were located.

To help further the investigation into Mr. Bosanac’s death, police are releasing his name and photo and are asking for anyone who had contact with him around the time he was last heard from on Feb. 25, to please contact police.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding Mr. Bosanac’s death are still unknown and we’re hoping the public may have information that can help police better determine a timeline on his final days, providing some clues as to what happened, added Cst. Evelyn.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-8707. Privacy for the family is requested.
