File # 2022-14742

No criminality is suspected in a motor vehicle collision which sadly claimed the life of a Kamloops woman this morning.

Around 8:30 a.m. May 5, 2022, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Notre Dame Drive, during which a car left the roadway and crashed into a plaza parking lot nearby. Its sole occupant was pronounced deceased at scene.

Based on the preliminary evidence collected by the Kamloops RCMP Municipal Traffic Unit and frontline officers, it does not appear the cause of the crash is criminal in nature, said Constable Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

The BC Coroners Service is conducting a concurrent investigation and police are awaiting the results of its report for further information.

Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this incident and has not yet spoken with police, is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2022-14742.
