File # 2022-10103

The RCMP is working in partnership with the BC Coroners Service after a deceased person was discovered in the North Thompson River earlier today.

Just after 12:30 on Tuesday March 29, 2022, frontline officers from the Kamloops RCMP were called the 4300-block of Westsyde Road to investigate a report there was a body floating in the Thompson River, near that location.

An officer from the RCMP Dive Team has been deployed to assist in recovering the decedent, whose gender can not yet be determined, states S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of the BC RCMP. At this point it is too early to determine the nature of the incident, or whether criminality is suspected in the person’s death.

The BC Coroners Service has been called, and is conducting its own, concurrent investigation into the circumstances around the person’s death.

No further information is available at this time.
