Police looking for witnesses in Tuesday night collision

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is looking for witnesses after a cyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries last night.

On Tuesday Nov. 9, 2021 around 8:25 p.m. police received reports of a collision on Hwy 5A just south of Rogers Way. Frontline officers and members of the Municipal Traffic Unit attended and discovered a cyclist had been struck by a vehicle in the northbound lane of the highway. Traffic was rerouted while the investigation occurred.

The cyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. No information is available on his current state.

The driver of the suspect motor vehicle has been cooperative with the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, the pedestrian on the highway, has dash cam video or information that could help further the investigation, to please contact police and reference file number 2021-39398.
