File # 2021-39272

A call about unwanted tenants has led to the recovery of stolen property and the seizure of drugs, cash, and firearms.

On Nov. 9, 2021, around 11 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended an apartment on the 300-block of Tranquille Road to assist with the removal of alleged squatters. Police presence was requested due to safety concerns about possible criminal activity occurring at the address. When police attended, they discovered the tenants were lawful occupants of the unit, but also observed two stolen e-bikes in plain view.

In recognizing that stolen property was present in the apartment, police arrested the two lawful
tenants, then held the scene so a search warrant could be obtained and executed,
said Constable
Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

During the search, officers seized the ebikes, a high-end mountain bike, suspected illegal drugs, and three modified, sawed-off long-barrelled firearms.

The investigation is ongoing and charge recommendation is anticipated, following its conclusion and subsequent approval assessment process.
