The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 393 calls for service from midnight Friday Sept. 10, to 9 a.m. on Monday Sept. 13, 2021. Below are some highlights from those calls.

Police seize replica handguns


A report of a man having a gun pulled on him led to police stopping a vehicle and seizing two replica handguns Friday morning.

On Sept. 10, 2021 around 10:23 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a third-hand report of a man in a vehicle who allegedly pulled a gun on another man, then took off on the 400-block of Tranquille Road. Police located the suspect on the 400-block of Mackenzie Avenue and conducted a high-risk extraction, due to the possibility of a firearm being present.

The driver was cooperative and during a search that followed his arrest, a replica pistol and revolver were located and seized for destruction. The alleged victim was uncooperative with the investigation and the suspect was released.

Failed robbery attempt leads to arrest


A woman was arrested following an alleged robbery attempt involving a note.

On Saturday Sept. 11, just before midnight, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended a convenience store on the 900-block of 8th Street for a report of a woman who presented a note which included a threat and demand for cash. When the request was denied, the woman left on foot, but was located by police a short distance away and arrested.

She was released with a court date, pending the investigation’s conclusion and subsequent charge assessment.

Police arrest home intruder


The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is investigating after a homeowner woke to find a stranger in their kitchen.

On Sept. 12, 2021, around 5 a.m., frontline officers responded to a report of a break and enter on the 1600-block of Chickadee Road. The home’s resident had been woken by the sound of breaking glass and drawers rattling in the kitchen, then discovered a stranger fixing some food; the intruder was told to leave.

Police located the suspect nearby, arrested him without incident, and lodged him in cells.
