A call to assist with an unwanted person led to a woman getting arrested and a frontline officer being assaulted.

On March 1, around 12:40 p.m., Kamloops RCMP attended an address on the 1200-block of the West Trans Canada Highway for a report of a woman who was refusing to leave and being aggressive.

Police attended and spoke with the woman, who continued to refuse to leave. She was placed under arrest and allegedly resisted, biting one of the officers.

The officer suffered minor injury but is expected to recover fully, said Constable Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested and released with a court date related to potential charges, including one for assaulting a police officer.
