The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 313 calls for service from midnight Friday February 26, to 9 a.m. on Monday March 1, 2021. Below are some highlights from those calls.
Police looking to identify ice cream robbery suspect
The Kamloops RCMP are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect from an armed robbery Sunday.
On February 28, just after midnight, police received a report of a man who stole ice cream bars from a business on the 900-block of 8th Avenue. When confronted about the offence, the man allegedly pulled up his shirt to reveal a large kitchen knife in his waistband.
Police were unable to locate the suspect. If anyone has information related to this event or can identify the man, please contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2021-6235.
Suspicious occurrence leads to weapon seizure
What appeared to be a firearm was located inside a tire by frontline officers responding to a report of a suspicious group Saturday morning.
On February 27, just before noon, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the 600-block of Lansdowne Street for a report of people behind a business possibly using or selling drugs.
After the group members were identified and had left the area, police located what appeared to be a firearm inside a tire where they had been congregating.
Three men were arrested, then later released. The firearm seized was identified as a pellet gun. The investigation is ongoing.
Man arrested after hitting vehicles
A man was arrested after he reported a group of vehicles racing around Highland Park Friday night.
On February 26, around 11:10 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a group of cars driving around and causing problems at the park near Linfield Drive. Police attended and were updated by a member of the group that a man was running and hitting their cars, causing them to swerve as they tried to leave.
A man was arrested and lodged in cells to sober up safely. No damage was done to the vehicles.
