File # 2023-4413

On June 12, 2023, William Pye was charged with six Criminal Code offences including Attempted Murder and Arson related to a February 16th, 2023 incident that occurred in a residential neighbourhood of Coquitlam.

See previous news release from February 17, 2023 for more information.

On that date, Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers responded to a residential fire on Keith Place near Parkland Drive in Coquitlam. Coquitlam RCMP located and arrested William Pye and the Coquitlam RCMP General Investigation Section took conduct of the investigation. After several months of investigative follow-ups, charges of Attempted Murder were approved. The accused remains in custody pending their next court appearance. The fire was believed to be intentionally set and the homeowners were known to the accused.

This incident had a significant impact on the neighbourhood, caused extensive damage to homes, and put the people’s lives in jeopardy. We are fortunate that nobody was seriously injured or killed as a result of the incident, said Sgt. Evo Sokerov.
