We are no April fools when it comes to traffic enforcement, said Staff Sergeant Mark McCutcheon, Coquitlam RCMP’s Traffic Services Commander. We take road safety seriously, which is why we continue our HVE and HAZE initiatives in order to deter unlawful driving behaviour.

Coquitlam RCMP continue to see the highest level of violation tickets along the Maryhill Bypass in Port Coquitlam with 172 of the 393 violation tickets in the designated HAZE area. Focused Police enforcement efforts at Lougheed Highway and Shaughnessy Street in Port Coquitlam resulted in 60 violation tickets issued in April. In addition, 84 violation tickets were issued at Lougheed Highway and Johnson and 77 violation tickets were issues at Como Lake and Fowler in Coquitlam.

We want to remind drivers that they will never be as fast as the Easter bunny, said Staff Sergeant Mark McCutcheon. If you tried to be as fast as the Easter bunny, you would lose more than the chocolate in your basket. Excessive speed can result in a $368 fine and your vehicle being impounded.
