Burnaby RCMP is investigating a collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team is investigating a collision that has resulted in the death of a 75-year-old pedestrian.

On Thursday, September 16, at 8:30 p.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Smith Avenue and Kincaid Street. The driver of a Blue 2020 Honda Civic was driving east on Kincaid Street and turned north on Smith Avenue when they collided with a 75-year-old pedestrian in the crosswalk.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and continues to cooperate with the investigation.

The victim was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries at the time, but has sadly since died from his injuries.

Our investigators have spoken to witnesses that were in the area, but are urging any others that may not have spoken to police to please come forward, Says Corporal Mike Kalanj of the Burnaby RCMP. We’re also asking for any drivers that may have dash cam footage from the area to please contact investigators.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision or potentially have dash cam video in the area of Kincaid Street between Boundary Road and Smith Avenue from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to please contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
