IHIT called to Burnaby

On May 13th, shortly after 8:35 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP was called to Market Crossing after a report of gunshots. Upon police attendance, a man was located suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite all attempts to revive the individual he succumbed to his injuries. Two others were confirmed to have suffered from gunshot wounds and are recovering in hospital.
Based on the investigative theory in this initial phase, this does not appear to be a random act.
The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Burnaby RCMP.
Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information will be provided at this time. Further details and media availability will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.
