Burnaby RCMP launch new Online Crime Reporting tool

Today, the Burnaby RCMP is launching a new online crime reporting tool to assist residents in reporting select non-emergency crimes. This program already exists in other RCMP detachments across the Lower Mainland and is being rolled out in phases.

Online Crime Reporting provides an alternate way for citizens to report less serious crimes at bc.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/burnaby/report.

Citizens with a valid email address can report crimes that occurred in Burnaby where there is no suspect or witness and follow up by a police officer is not required.

In addition to providing a more convenient way for residents to make a report, this new tool will also allow call takers and frontline personnel to focus on higher priority calls.

Crime reporting is an essential part of determining how and where policing resources are deployed in our City, says Corporal Mike Kalanj with Burnaby RCMP. In the coming weeks we will be reaching out to our community virtually to help them learn more about the tool and the types of crime that it can be used to report.
