Man arrested after violent assault

Just after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, Prince George RCMP was advised of an assault in progress in front of a business on the 1200-block of Second Avenue. Witnesses told police they saw a man assaulting the victim with a baseball bat. Multiple police officers responded to the incident and within 15 minutes the suspect was located and arrested a few blocks from where the assault took place.

Police officers are extending their thanks to the members of the public who reported the assault and continued to report the movements of the suspect as he left the area, which assisted police in locating him so quickly. The suspect is known to police and at the time of his arrest was bound by a probation order stemming from a similar offense in 2022, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The victim remains in the hospital with serious injuries. The suspect will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
