File # 2023-18994
Prince George RCMP, in partnership with the B.C. Coroners Service, is providing an update to the suspicious death investigation announced on June 12, 2023.
Investigators have concluded this death was not the result of a homicide. Our Serious Crime Unit has concluded their part of the investigation and have turned it over to the B.C. Coroners Service, who will maintain their own investigation, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim.
Around 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, Prince George RCMP was called to the 2000-block of First Avenue in response to a report of a body that was located inside a tent in the area.
The body was found in an advanced stage of decomposition, having been exposed to the elements for a number of days. Due to these circumstances, the Serious Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation while we wait for the findings of the B.C. Coroner Service, which is conducting a parallel investigation, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
